IIFA 2007: A Blessing for Yorkshire Economy

IIFA 2007: A Blessing for Yorkshire Economy

We already know about the winners and losers of IIFA 2007. Rang de Basanti was awarded as the best film. You also know who were the best actor and best actress. So, many fans are now discussing and debating about the awards. This time, the award took place in Yorkshire.

The traders and local officials of Yorkshire are now busy in counting about the benefit that IIFA brought for the local economy of Yorkshire. It seems that the benefit was something to cheer the people of Yorkshire.

BBC reported:

Some 10% of income for Bollywood films come from outside India and Pakistan, while the UK is the second-biggest market for Indian films.

In the days leading up to the awards, Yorkshire hosted a string of events - including a world film premiere in Castleford.

The events are expected to generate £10m for the Yorkshire economy and attract some 30,000 visitors.

The traders of Yorkshire would expect that some Indians would feel encouraged to travel the place in future. Bollywood is expanding quite fast. So, I am sure that some other major cities in the world would love to host IIFA awards in future.
